Description
And now I run the risk of upsetting fellow Mizzies by doing my interpretation of the Thénardiers rather than a rendition.
There's criticism that the style of the characters in the musical is at odds with the others; they've been criticized as Dickensian grotesquerie.
It's interesting to note that Claude-Michel Schönberg said (in the Wiki entry): "in the middle of a dramatic and very sad story we decided to turn the Thénardiers into a kind of comic characters...to relax the audience because it's a very heavy show."
So I've taken my inspiration from that, re-imagining them as a matched set of lovable rogues, which doubtless they saw themselves.
This is how I'd imagine them showing up at Marius and Cosette's wedding: In fashion 38 years out of date, dressed in carnival colors, larger than life.
I hope you like
Modeled in Daz 4.5, rendered in Reality 2.5 and LuxRender 1.0, some post-work in PS.
The Thénardiers are properties of their respective owners, this art is mine.
